Mark Wilhelm is an artist located in Boise Idaho. His current work focuses on Abstract Expressionism, a movement made popular by Willem and Elaine de Kooning, Mark Rothko, and Joan Mitchell. He is currently represented by Idaho Art Gallery

Mark gives a lot of thought to his color palettes and often spends time trying out different combinations until he achieves the feeling he is looking for. He then premixes his colors so that he can become completely immersed in the act of painting and trust that his colors will convey the message he is expressing.

Mark works with both oil and acrylic paints on canvas but favors gouache when working on paper. He utilizes many different techniques to inspire his painting including, collage, en plein air painting and sketching, and journaling.
